Cold and Flu Home Remedies

Eat a few cloves of garlic to get relief from cold and flu. You can prepare a garlic soup.

Consume fruits which are rich in Vitamin C.

Drinking cranberry juice is an effective home remedy for curing flu faster.

Take a hot shower bath or steam bath.

Gargling with salt water is known to be an age old remedy for curing cold and cough.

Cut 100 grams of lady’s fingers into small pieces and boil them in water. Inhale the steam coming out from this decoction. Inhale it 2-3 times a day.

Get plenty of rest.

Applying peppermint or eucalyptus oil on the chest can also help to keep away from cold and flu. You can add a few drops of tea tree oil, lemon oil or lavender oil to the bathing water.

Mix ¼ tablespoon of cinnamon powder in a tablespoon of honey and take it for 3-4 days. This would help to strengthen the immune system.

One of the effective natural remedies for treating flu is to eat gooseberry (amla) in regular basis. As it is rich in Vitamin C, it helps to treat flu and throat infections also.

Prepare a mixture by crushing black pepper, cinnamon, cardamom and black cumin seeds together and sniff it.

Boil black peppers and holy basil leaves together in water and add some sugar to it. Drink the mixture.

Mix equal quantities of garlic and jaggery. Eat the mixture daily.
